Challenge

According to the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), about 5.2 million Venezuelans left their country due to complex political, economic, and social crises. Chile and Argentina are among the main destinations of Venezuelan migrants (mostly young people) searching for new opportunities and the desire to become entrepreneurs. Chile, to date, has received more than 455,000 and Argentina around 179,000. Although there are isolated initiatives and entrepreneurial solutions proposed by the migrant community, many are disconnected from the local markets or the innovative ecosystem and require support or guidance from local experts to scale up their ventures and connect with relevant actors or decision-makers.

Solution

This project leverages the successful results of the "Hello Europe," innovative platform that supports and scales more than 83 solutions in 12 European countries in the last four years. The platform's success provides the strategy for real collaboration between key actors, supports social innovators with high-impact solutions, and connects them with decision-makers through Ashoka's Globalizer methodology.

The BetterTogether Challenge supports the first Latin American version of this innovative social platform to improve the entrepreneurial skills of Venezuelan migrants in Chile and Argentina. It provides 45 solutions to consolidate their business models, improve productivity and connect philanthropy, academia, government and private businesses. By connecting Venezuelan entrepreneurs and providing them with tools and resources, they can make their projects a reality.
