What We Are Looking For

The BetterTogether Challenge seeks to crowdsource, fund, and scale forward-thinking solutions from anywhere in the world to support Venezuelans and host communities affected by the regional crisis.

We will fund innovation with the potential to transform the lives of Venezuelans and communities hosting them. Types of solutions may include:

  • New technologies;
  • New ways of delivering or financing goods and services;
  • More cost-effective or context-specific adaptations to existing solutions;
  • New ways of increasing uptake of existing proven solutions;
  • Policy changes, shifts or nudges based on behavioral economics;
  • Social or behavioral innovations.
Focus Areas
  • People: Solutions to help develop skills and networks, and promote social cohesion and peaceful community relationships.
  • Productivity: Solutions that build livelihoods and improve access to products essential to daily life.
  • Services: Solutions that improve the delivery of services, such as education, health, energy, connectivity, and others.
  • Finances: Solutions that improve the access to, and transfer of, cash and capital.
Awards


Awards may be grants, loans, and/or equity investments. In addition to financial support, awardees may be eligible for other benefits, including technical assistance, access to networks, and public recognition.

Applicants may apply for funding at any of the four tiers at any time.

Tier 1: Ideas
Up to $25,000 to develop and test an early-stage idea.

Tier 2: Prototype

Up to $250,000 to pilot and assess an existing prototype in the regional crisis context.

Tier 3: Validation

Up to $500,000 to test broader market readiness for successfully piloted solutions.

Tier 4: Scaling

Up to $1.5 million for solutions with demonstrated commercial viability or public sector partnerships in the regional crisis context.
